Product Information

Gyno-Trosyd is indicated for the local treatment of vaginal infections due to yeast, mainly Candida species.

The vaginal cream may be used for local application to the vulva concurrent with intra-vaginal treatment, and for the local treatment of consorts.

Gyno-Trosyd is simple single dose ointment is designed to combat vaginal fungal infections (thrush) in a single dose. It comes in a handy pre-filled applicator.

Thrush is characterised by redness, itchiness and sometimes an unpleasant vaginal discharge. There are many reasons why thrush may appear.

Among the most common are, treatment with antibiotics, menstruation, hot weather and the use of nylon tights can all precipitate an attack.

Application and usage

Gyno-Trosyd is a 6.5%w/w ointment (4.6g equivalent to 300mg tioconazole base ) in a pre-filled applicator and should be applied at night upon retiring as a single dose therapy.

This single dose affects a cure in most patients. A repeat application one week later may be effective in patients who are improved but not cured by the first treatment.

Warnings

Use only if you have already had a vaginal yeast infection diagnosed by a medical practitioner and you have the same symptoms now, otherwise consult your doctor. These symptoms include itching and burning of the vagina and sometimes a white discharge. If there is no improvement in 3 days or if symptoms have not disappeared within seven days, then consult a medical practitioner as not all vaginal infections are caused by yeast.

If symptoms recur within 2 months, consult a medical practitioner.

Precautions

Constituents of the ointment may be incompatible with rubber in both contraceptive condoms and diaphragms.

Safety in pregnancy and lactation has not been established.

Gyno-Trosyd should be used in pregnant women ONLY if a medical practitioner considers it necessary.

Gyno-Trosyd is contraindicated in individuals who have shown to be hypersensitive to imidazole antifungal agents or any of the components of the single dose ointment.
